It controls lighting that runs through a separate driver or DC circuit rather than directly from 120V mains.

Two distinct types are available in this range, and they are not interchangeable:

  • 0-10V / 1-10V controller: connects to the dimming terminals on a compatible LED driver. The driver is still powered by 120V mains, but the dimming signal is a separate low voltage control wire running from the driver to the controller.   • 12-24V PWM dimmer: controls LED strips and DC lighting circuits running directly on 12V or 24V power. Common in under-cabinet lighting, RV and boat lighting, and LED strip installations. The dimmer sits on the DC circuit between the power supply and the LED load

Confirm which type your lighting system requires before ordering. Using the wrong type will not work and may damage the driver or LED load.

How to Choose the Right Low Voltage Dimmer for Your Circuit

The most common source of confusion with low voltage dimmers is identifying which dimming protocol the lighting system uses. The answer is in the driver or power supply specification, not the light fixture itself.

Before ordering, confirm whether the lighting system requires a low voltage electronic dimmer with 0-10V control or a PWM dimmer for a 12V or 24V DC circuit.

  • Driver specification: look for DIM+/DIM- terminals on the driver. If present, the driver accepts a 0-10V control signal and needs a 0-10V controller
  • DC circuit voltage: if the lighting runs on a 12V or 24V DC supply with no separate dimming terminals, a PWM dimmer on the DC line is the correct approach
  • Wiring: 0-10V controllers require a separate low voltage wire run from the controller to the driver dimming terminals. This is in addition to the standard line voltage wiring to the driver
